More and more of you are doing your spreadsheet work from inside an AI assistant. So we've built something to make that easier: sheet2api now works with AI agents.
ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex and any other client that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) can now connect to your sheet2api account and work with your Google Sheets and Excel Online spreadsheets directly.
What your agent can do
- List the worksheets in a Spreadsheet API, along with their column names
- Read rows, with optional filters and limits
- Read the values of specific cells, such as A1 or B2
- Add new rows
- Update or replace existing rows
- Delete rows (filters are always required, so a whole worksheet can't be emptied by accident)
You just ask in plain English, for example "List everything in my Inventory sheet with fewer than 10 units left" or "Set Northwind's country to Spain", and the agent does the rest against your live spreadsheet.
How to set it up
Add https://sheet2api.com/mcp/ as a remote MCP server in the AI client you already use. Then sign in with Google or Microsoft and approve access once. There's no API key to copy and paste.
Or even easier, just tell your agent to set itself up from sheet2api.com/agents. It will read the instructions and ask you to approve access.
You stay in control
Your agent can only reach the Spreadsheet APIs you leave MCP-enabled, and it respects the same read, create, update and delete settings as your REST API. You can revoke an assistant's access at any time from your dashboard.
Full details are in the MCP documentation. Give it a try and let us know what you think :)
